About BackJack's New Version 5


 

The following information is applicable to all current Version 4.5.x BackJack Account holders:

Version 5 requires the following:
  1. OS X 10.4.10 or greater.
  2. DOWNLOADING and INSTALLING the new Version 5 software.
  3. Creating a NEW ACCOUNT and ID (Your current Account ID will not work for the new version).
  4. A completely NEW UPLOAD of all of your data.  (Your data currently backed up with V4.5.x cannot be transferred).

1. You may choose to either carry on with the use of your current version of BackJack and change over at a later date (we will continue to support v4.5.x).

Version 5 Change Over Steps

Initial Notes:

 

  1. Please be reminded that you will be creating a completely new account and you will be assigned a new Account ID as well as create new passwords.  Your old Version 4 account information will not work.

  2. This is a three-phase process and both phases can be completed immediately:
    • Phase One: Create a Version 5 Free Account - Set up a free account by downloading and installing the software. A new Account ID is assigned and new passwords are set.

    • Phase Two: Subscribe to Version 5 - Complete the change over process by completing the subscription process online. Complete a new upload of your data.

    • Phase Three: Cancel Version 4 Account - Cancel your current Version 4 subscription by contacting BackJack via email or phone.

 


 

Phase One (Please safely record all account & password information requested for future reference as you proceed)


1. Download the Version 5 software using the link below.


2. Once downloaded, double click on the BackJack5 Installer icon to be guided conveniently through the installation process.

3. Launch the BackJack5 application and The BackJack Setup Assistant will appear.

4. Click on 'Create New Account'.

5. In the 'Promotion Code' field, enter your - current Version 4 Account ID - .

6. Activate your account.

7. From the main Backup window, add a small file or folder and perform a test upload (you need to stay within the default 10 GB storage block assigned).

 

Phase Two


1. Determine your overall number of users and storage requirements based on storage now being sold in 10 GB block increments (ie. 15.8 GB of selected data means that you require 2 x 10 GB storage blocks). Each user on an Account is automatically assigned a minimum of one 10 GB storage block.

2. Subscribe to the BackJack Version 5 service via the MyBackJack Portal (you will use the newly created Account info).

 

3. Version 5's annual pricing for the BackJack Service is as follows:

Phase Three

 

It is the client's responsibility to notify BackJack either via email <support@backjack.com> or via phone (1-888-421-0220 Toll Free), of their intent to cancel their v4 account and continue with Version 5. An email reminder will be sent 2 days after subscription to Version 5 of the client's need to cancel their old account (v4) and complete the process for use of the Version 5 service. Failure to cancel the Version 4 account may result in dual invoicing for both v4 and Version 5 services.

 

Once we confirm you as a new Version 5 Business subscriber, we will contact you directly to confirm the deactivation of your old Account. We will retain your v4 backups at least 30 days after your Version 5 backups are in place and the conversion is complete. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us. Version 5 Highlights:

 

  • The amount of data (files and folders) you want to protect is now sold and assigned to Users on your Account in convenient 10 GB blocks
  • Pricing is based entirely on selected data which means there's a true 1-to-1 correlation between selected data and storage purchased - in other words, 9.2 GB that you select to be backed up means that you can purchase and stay within a 10 GB storage block
  • Our new web-based account manager, MyBackJack, gives Account administrators greater control over their account information, internal support, storage and user management
