How long should it take to download BackJack?
The process should be very quick (depends on your download speed). If you encounter any problems, please e-mail us at support@backjack.com. If the download is not successful during your first attempt, simply re-try the download (if you have already completed the Account ID Registration process, there is no need to go through this process again).
What is the promotion code field on this page? Do I just leave it blank?
If you have been provided with a unique promotion code (ie. via a special promotion we are running or via a consultant), you can enter it here. Otherwise, please leave this field blank.
Can I have more time or space on the trial?
We ask that you formally subscribe to our service if you require either more time or additional space beyond the (2) 4 GB offered. We offer a full 30-day money back guarantee on all fees initially paid to use; therefore, this should alleviate any concerns with subscribing.
What does (2) 4 GB of native/uncompressed data mean?
In order to determine the native (or uncompressed) amount of data you are backing up, simply perform a 'Get Info' on your selected files/folders. If the combined total is equal to or less than (2) 4 GB (4,096 MB), you will be able to back it up via the trial. We simply use these terms to refer to the size of the data as it resides on your hard drive.
Will you contact me when the free trial is over?
Yes, absolutely. We make contact several times during the free trial period just to ensure all okay and to let you know when the trial period is ending.
Can I back up more than one Mac on your free trial?
Yes. You can install and use BackJack on as many Macs as you want during the free trial; however, please note that it is a combined total of (2) 4 GB for all Macs during the trial. To use on another Mac, simply download and install BackJack; use the SAME Account ID/password; however, you must enter a DIFFERENT computer ID for each so that they are distinguished uniquely in our system as separate users under the same Account.
What do I do when the download is complete?
Check your email for your BackJack Account ID, since you will need this to begin. Then, visit our OS X Setup page for complete instructions.
I’ve downloaded and installed the software – When I attempt to back up, I get a validation error? Now what?
This simply means that you have entered either an incorrect Account ID, an incorrect password or both. Some troubleshooting tips:
- The Account ID has to match the one that would have automatically been emailed to you after you entered your email address and a password via the free trial page – the Account ID starts with the first 3 characters of your email address followed by a series of 4 or 5 numbers.
- The password is the one you used when you registered (case sensitive)
- If you need confirmation on either of these pieces of information, please contact us
- If you need to re-enter (correct) this information, launch BackJack and open the preferences window. You will see fields for the Account ID and password. Re-enter the correct information and OK the window. Then, re-attempt the backup procedure. If you continue to have problems, contact us
