Existing BackJack Clients Only (those running Tiger/10.4 or greater):

 

On April 17, 2006 Apple released a new Java version (Java 5.0 Release 4). This release includes J2SE version 1.5.0_06 which was identified as causing a problem with BackJack. We have resolved this issue and have a new version of BackJack available for existing clients to download. Our default download for all new demo users (via our Free Trial page) is fine.

 

Important:

  • please make sure BackJack is not open or running before you begin installing
  • this newest version is v4.5.5
  • installing this version will NOT affect your existing backup sets (ie. you do not need to reconfigure any existing backup sets) or start anew in any way
  • to begin, click on http://download.backjack.com/BackJackX.dmg

 

There are 2 ways in which the problem will identify itself to BackJack users:

  • when attempting a backup, clients will receive an error message indicating 'an error occurred while attempting to Execute this Backup Set (see log for details)
  • the backup process will hang
