Subscribing Information
I've tried your free account. How do I proceed with subscribing?
Can I subscribe without a free BackJack account?
In order to subscribe to BackJack, you need an Account ID. This can be obtained via the free account/download process. Once you have this information, you can then proceed to subscribe (ie. you don't have to perform any uploads prior to subscribing).
I live outside of North America. Can I use BackJack?
Absolutely. BackJack is used by Mac users around the world. All international subscriptions fall under our US pricing and will be processed in US dollars.
Once I subscribe, do I have to start completely anew or do I simply carry on with my uploads?
You are welcome to keep the free account User and proceed with further uploads OR remove it and start completely anew. If you keep it, then you will be required to test the Encryption Passphrase you generated (to ensure that you are backing up using a known Encryption Passphrase). If you want to start with new Users, then you can simply deactivate the free account User (via the MyBackJack portal) and proceed to purchase the required number of new Users. In this case, the original User activated under the free account is then permanently deactivated in our system.
Can I back up more than one Mac under a single Account?
Yes. You can install BackJack on multiple Macs in your organization and they can be conveniently managed from a single location through the use of MyBackJack. You may add as many users as you would like when you subscribe or you can easily add additional Users at any time in the future.
How do you sell and assign storage?
When you subscribe, you purchase as much storage as you require to protect all of the Users on your Account. Storage is sold in 10 GB blocks. We've made calculating storage simple for you. All you need to do is look on your hard drive and determine the size of all the folders that you want to protect. For example, it is common for Mac users to back up their entire 'Home' directory. To determine the size of this folder, use Finder to select your Home folder and then select 'Get Info' from the File menu. It will calculate the size of this folder for you so that you can gauge how much storage space to purchase. Do this for each Mac you want/need to protect and you will know how much to purchase.
Remember that storage space is both sold and assigned to Users in 10 GB blocks. Therefore, if you determine that your 'Home' folder is 8.9 GB, you would purchase 1 x 10 GB block to be assigned to that User. If you determine the folder to be 14 GB, you would purchase and assign 2x10 GB storage blocks.
What types of billing periods do you offer? How can I pay for BackJack?
We offer a convenient Annual fee comprised of both User fees and Storage fees. We accept payment via Credit card (Visa, Mastercard or Amex) or Paypal.
How does your Annual billing process work?
