Restore Your Data
This feature allows you to restore items that have been previously backed up and are now being stored on our servers. You can:
When you click on 'Restore' from the Main window you will come to a screen that allows you to:
- see your backed up files and how they are being stored in the Restore window
- view the original file size
- view the last modified date
- view the date the item (ie. file/folder) was backed up
- most importantly, restore files from our servers
Viewing Your Stored Files
The Restore window automatically expands any single item entries beginning with the root level until it encounters more than one file/folder at a given level (single volume only). This allows for quicker navigation to the important files/folders.
The Restore window has been designed to show you the paths that lead to where your information is stored. These paths are exactly the same as on your own Mac for ease of navigation in finding your items in the Restore window.
The arrows to the left allow you to expand the levels. If the arrow points down, it indicates that the level is expanded. You can collapse the levels simply by clicking on the arrows so that they point to the right. Individual files will not have an arrow beside them.

Items marked with a strikethrough (see image below) are recoverable; however, since they have been removed by you (from your local hard drive), they will be deleted from the remote storage servers within 30 days.

Files marked with two plus signs (see image below) indicates that there is more than one revision of the file being stored. You can single-click on the ++ icon to view up to 10 revisions of the same file (available to be restored from the remote storage servers). The revisions will be displayed from the newest revision to the oldest revision.

Selecting Items to Restore
Now let's take a look at the most important feature of this window ... restoring files. You can select an entire folder to be restored or you can select specific files within a folder.

ACTION: To select an Item to be restored, simply click once on the item in the 'Items You Have Backed Up' list (ie. an entire folder or an individual file) and then click the "ADD" button.
You cannot restore an item unless it has been moved to the 'Items you Would Like to Restore' field. To remove an item from your "Items You Would Like To Restore" list, click on the item in the list and press the "Delete" key.
The 'A' Column - this checkbox needs to be activated for any items that you want to restore. If no items are activated, then you'll note how the 'Restore' button is greyed out and won't let you proceed. This feature simply lets you keep items in this field and select or deselect as necessary.
The 'Fl' Column - indicates that the item is a Folder
Restoring Multiple File Revisions
If you want to restore all revisions of a file being stored, you will need to add them individually to the Restore field. Once the restore is complete, they will be placed in individual folders within the BackJack Restore <today's date> folder on your desktop.
Setting Restore Options
ACTION: Once you have determined the Items you want to restore, check the Destination and folder name of your restore.
By default, the destination of a restore is your Desktop and the name of the folder is BackJack Restore <today's date>.
You can change the name of the restore and/or the location of the restore by clicking the 'Set...' button.

If you click the 'Set...' button, BackJack will ask you to determine:
- the name of your Restore Folder - you will notice that it defaults to the name BackJack Restore yyyy-mm-dd
- where you want to put your Restore folder on your hard drive
ACTION: Rename the Restore Folder if you wish and choose a location on your hard drive and click on SAVE. If you do not wish to continue, click CANCEL.
Performing a Restore
Once you click on the Restore button, BackJack will then begin the process of restoring your Items. The Restore Progress window is important for monitoring the status of your restoration. It relays the following information to you:
- start time (date and time the restore session started)
- elapsed time (how much time so far has elapsed in the restore process)
- time remaining for the restore session to complete
- total number of files to restore
- number of files already restored
- number of files remaining to be restored
- original file size
Note: The Total value will only change after the file is fully restored (ie. successfully restored, decompressed and decrypted).

Once your files/folders have been restored, they will be available for access by simply navigating to where you saved the Restore folder on your Mac. BackJack will automatically take you back to the Restore Tab Window.
