| Products Affected: | BackJack 5, Mac OSX 10.5, 10.6 |
| Versions: | All |
| Article: | KB100014 |
Symptoms
You receive a confirmation email that looks like this:
Subject: BackJack Reporter (Errors) - Backup Confirmation
Account ID: back.jack
Username: back.jack
Started: 9/28/10 4:00 PM
Finished: 9/28/10 4:05 PM
This Session: 10.1 MB for 4 Files
The following problems occurred during initial scan that prevented BackJack from checking if a backup was required:
--------------------------------------------------------------
Could not get directory contents ('Read' permission required):/Users/backJack/Library/Database/Database.sqlite3
Could not get directory contents ('Read' permission required):/Users/backJack/Library/Preferences/Global.plist
Could not get directory contents ('Read' permission required):/Users/backJack/Library/Preferences/BezelServices.plist
Could not get directory contents ('Read' permission required):/Users/backJack/Library/Preferences/client.plist
Could not get directory contents ('Read' permission required):/Users/backJack/Library/Preferences/dashboard.plist
The following files were successfully backed up:
--------------------------------------------------------------
/Users/backjack/Desktop/BackJackKBx.rtf (100 KB)
/Users/backjack/Desktop/BackJacktech.rtf (10 KB)
/Users/backjack/Documents/TenForward.tng (10 MB)
/Users/backjack/Documents/m1llEnIumf@l0cn.sw4 (30 KB)
Explanation
This simply means that BackJack is not allowed to look at the contents of the files in question. There are several Mac OS issues that can generate a "Read Permission" error, but typically a file that does not have read permission is a file generated by the Mac OS or by another User on your Mac.
Resolution
Log into your Mac as an Administrator. If you do not have Administrator privileges, please contact your system administrator.Find the files that do not have read permission. We recommend that you change the permission to "Read Only" unless otherwise instructed. If you cannot find the files that do not have read permission, send us your BackJack Log and we'll let you know what to do.
If this doesn't solve your problem, please visit our Help Me page for more assistance.
