Adding Multiple Computers/Users for Backup

To create a new user on an additional computer, download and install BackJack on the new computer and proceed as follows:

1. Launch the BackJack application on the next computer you would like to back up and proceed through the Setup Assistant.

 

2. Enter the same Account ID and password (case-sensitive) as on the original computer set up to use BackJack.

 

3. The key to creating a new user/computer for backup is to enter a unique Computer ID (case-insensitive) -- a new Computer ID must be different from any other Computer ID used under the same Account ID (Mac1 is different than Mac2 but MacHD is the same as machd)

 

4. You may also choose to have a similar or different encryption passphrase for each Computer ID. Note: We recommend that extreme caution be taken when using different encryption passphrases as loss of the passphrase will result in unrecoverable files. Please document any and all encryption passphrases for all Computer IDs and store in a safe place.

 

5. Proceed through the remainder of the Setup Assistant as well as configuration of a new backup set, etc., and the new computer/user is ready to backup under the same account.

 

6. Computer IDs for one account can be monitored and/or deleted using the BackJack Account Manager

 

7. Important: Unique and different Computer IDs are case-insensitive, no more than 32 characters, and use only standard ASCII characters. Failure to comply with these general parameters may result in files that are inaccessible.

 

8. Note: There is a US $4 fee per month for each additional user under your Account.
